Our History
A House with History,
from the 16th Century
Casa El Colibrí is a former 16th century winemakers' house, located on the historic Calle del Agua in Villafranca del Bierzo. For centuries, pilgrims have passed through here on their way west, and today we continue that long tradition of hospitality.
Located directly on the French Camino de Santiago, right in the center of town and just steps from the Plaza Mayor, Casa El Colibrí combines the convenience of a central location with the feeling of a quiet retreat. Everything is close at hand, yet the atmosphere inside the house is serene and restful.
We were born from the Camino: from its history, its rhythm and the people who walk it. Run by an American who arrived as a pilgrim and felt the desire to remain connected to the journey, the house is a personal and sincere way of giving back to the Camino part of what has been received.
